The Victims

Posters like this one appeared on telephone poles and store windows all over town in the weeks that followed Amber Hastings' disappearance.  Sadly Amber Hastings was not the only victim.

Nine year-old Benjamin Kramer was reported missing June 4th 1993.  His bicycle was later found by the old stone quarry.  Although his death was ruled an accidental drowning, many people in town now question whether there was a link between his death and the missing girls.

Sue Ellen Anderson never returned home from a fraternity mixer.  Her boyfriend, Brad Watson was the last person known to have seen her alive.  Watson was questioned by police and released after giving a detailed description of a "mystery priest" who gave the two a lift when his van broke down.

Police sketch of so-called mystery priest, thought to have stalked Sue Ellen from this stand of trees behind her sorority house.

Law enforcement officials believe that the killer drove along these rail road tracks before dumping this unidentified female body near Hooks Creek bridge just outside of  town.

Despite many sleepless nights, Dr. Kathryn Malone counseled families in this small town about coping with their fears and suspicions of one another.  She was quoted in a local news paper: "This monster has robbed a whole town of their feelings of trust and safety.  They're treating one another like strangers."

Sheriff Daniel Black summed up the feelings of local townsfolk in the following:

"This used to be a quiet little town, a nice safe place to raise children.  People slept with their doors unlocked and nobody thought twice about helping a stranger.  Now that's all changed. It's a damned shame."
