Nine year-old Benjamin
Kramer was reported missing June 4th 1993. His bicycle was
later found by the old stone quarry. Although his
death was ruled an accidental drowning, many people in town now
question whether there was a link between his death and the
missing girls. |

Despite many sleepless
nights, Dr. Kathryn Malone counseled families in this small town
about
coping with their fears and suspicions of one another. She
was quoted in a local news paper: "This monster has robbed
a whole town of their feelings of trust and safety.
They're treating one another like strangers." |
Sheriff Daniel Black summed
up the feelings of local townsfolk in the following:
"This used to be a quiet little
town, a nice safe place to raise children. People slept
with their doors unlocked and nobody thought twice about helping
a stranger. Now that's all changed. It's a damned
shame." |
